The Department of Music is pleased to host the Online Panel, ‘Career Pathways in Music and the Arts’, on Wednesday 9 April, 16.00–17.30.  

Chaired by Joe Davies, the panel brings together five leading speakers to discuss career opportunities across academia, arts administration, education, and performance:

Michael Dawson (Artistic Director Maynooth University Chamber Choir, Lecturer, Founder/CEO Irish Institute of Music and Song/Lark Concert Hall)
Natasha Loges (Professor of Musicology, Hochschule für Musik Freiburg)
Anna Rosa Mari (Chief Executive Officer, National Youth Orchestra of Ireland)
Susan McCormick (Assistant Professor of Music Education, School of Education, Trinity College Dublin)
Sam Wigglesworth (Director of Performance Music, Faber Music)
 
The panellists will share their experiences and offer advice about finding employment in the music industry and arts world. 
 
What pathways emerge from degrees in music? What are the transferrable skills? And how might graduates transition to administration, leadership, or careers outside the field?
 
We will also discuss the role of postgraduate study and how the Music Department’s new taught courses can augment your skillset and improve your employment prospects. These include: MA in Contemporary Music PracticesMA in Creative Music TechnologiesMA in Music, Culture and Practice, and MSc in Sound and Music Computing.
