Dr Laura Watson has contributed a chapter to the new edited collection Music, Memory and Memoir, edited by Robert Edgar, Fraser Mann and Helen Pleasance (London: Bloomsbury, 2019) https://www.bloomsbury.com/uk/music-memory-and-memoir-9781501340659/. Her chapter is titled 'Reading Lyrics, Hearing Prose: Morrissey's Autobiography'. It explores the relationships between songwriting and the evocation of memory in this artist's memoir. Furthermore, it touches on how Morrissey uses the book and, increasingly, his website to express political views.
