2023 MU Undergraduate Research Symposium

Join us on Tuesday 24th October to celebrate the work of the 2023 SPUR Cohort as they display their research in the TSI Building.

HEANET and ICHEC Research Services Roadshow 

"In this session HEAnet and ICHEC will present the services and initiatives available to support researchers and research support staff. In the case of HEAnet, we will speak about network & cloud services, opportunities for collaboration with researchers, piloting new services to support research, opportunities for access to funding and initiatives to support Open Science. For example, through this work, Irish institutes have benefitted from ~2M Euros funding from EU since 2022. In the case of ICHEC, there will be overview of activities and services in training and outreach, performance engineering and novel technologies. And finally, a run-through of resources available to researchers in Ireland through ICHEC's National Service, which include access to High Performance Computing and technical support and advice. All Welcome, no booking required. "

Undergraduate Research Symposium

This event celebrates the diversity of undergraduate research activity across Maynooth University and presents a forum for the Summer Programme for Undergraduate Research (SPUR) students from all faculties to showcase their research among peers and the wider university community. Judges and guests can view participants posters and hear directly from students about their research. Everyone is encouraged to come along, ask questions, and show their support to the participants.

Ever wondered how the world’s best athletes are tested to assess their risk of injury and readiness to perform in sport? Come along and find out by chatting with staff from our newly established Department of Sport Science and Nutrition who will provide a live demonstration of some field-based strength testing devices used in research related to sports injury and athletic performance.

Celibacy in Irish Women's Writing, 1860–1950s 

This event includes a presentation by Dr. Paul Fagan, of his Irish Research Council Postdoctoral Project, 'Celibacy in Irish Women's Writing, 1860–1950s'. The paper will discuss the project’s main subjects (Frances Power Cobbe, Ethel Colburn Mayne, Elizabeth Bowen, Kate O’Brien, Teresa Deevy) and findings to date. Dr. Fagan will also launch the project’s website and podcast series which accompanies the monograph he is preparing. The event will be chaired by Prof. Moynagh Sullivan.
