Dr Noelle Higgins speaks at the Citizens' Assembly

Dr Higgins spoke at the Citizens' Assembly on Saturday 7th January on the issue of international human rights law and its application in Ireland concerning fatal foetal abnormalities. In particular, she spoke on the case of Mellet v Ireland 

The Citizens' Assembly is a body comprising of 99 citizens and a chairperson, Ms Justice Laffoy, established to consider some of the most important issues facing Ireland’s future. These issues are: The 8th Amendment of the Constitution, Challenges and Opportunities of an Ageing Population, The Manner in which referenda are held, Fixed Term Parliaments and Making Ireland a leader in tackling Climate Change.
