Our students gain experience in pure and applied physics, computational physics and astrophysics during their undergraduate studies. Experimental Physics graduates have a wide range of career opportunities open to them in, for example, medical physics, applied physics, meteorology, software engineering, astrophysics and space science, microelectronics, telecommunication engineering, teaching and lecturing. Our graduates have found employment in high-tech companies in Ireland and abroad.
Students who obtain a good honours degree are eligible to undertake research for an M.Sc. or Ph.D. degree under the supervision of one of the members of academic staff, who run active research programmes in a variety of research areas in experimental physics, astrophysics and astronomical instrumentation.
