The Department of Media Studies is located in the Iontas Building on the North Campus.
Each programme of study in the Department involves students in creative production and in critical appraisal of media’s role in society. Students graduate from our degrees with practical skills as well as the capacity to understand changing industry dynamics.
We work in conjunction with our industry partner Kairos Communications Ltd who offer students the experience of learning media practice from experienced professionals.
Faculty have research and supervision interests in media and migration/diaspora/transnationalism, theories of mediation, Irish and Irish-American popular culture, material culture, cultural policy, digital media policy, political economy of media, including internet and Web 2.0, discourse analysis, and cinema history in Ireland.
