Online Dating and the Racial Preferences of People of Colour Co-PI This research seeks to investigate how people of colour (POC) make dating choices online. It asks: 1) How do non-White online daters choose potential partners? 2) What role does race/ethnicity (and related phenotype or physical appearance) play in their choices and how does this vary across daters of disparate ethnic and racial backgrounds, gender, class, and age? 3) Are partners of certain racial backgrounds seen as ‘no go areas’ – ones transgressing red lines – and by whom (online daters of particular gender, age, ethnicity/race)? Are these perceived prohibitions evidence of historically entrenched racisms? And do such perceived prohibitions vary across regions? 16/10/2023 13/10/2025
