Energy Management

Maynooth University has a proactive strategy towards Energy Management. As a public sector organization we are partners with SEAI and are ahead of the glide path towards a 33% reduction in energy consumption by the year 2020.

Not only do we install energy efficient technology when building and refurbishing, but we have also installed “on site” electricity generation in the form of a number of Combined Heat and Power Plants (CHP) and we recently commissioned a Solar PV installation on the roof of one of our buildings.  We have embraced electric vehicles and provide four charging points on the North Campus for students, staff and visitors. We have also recently purchased a number of small electric commercial vehicles for use by University colleges.
