The event is open to all interested colleagues and is hosted by Dr Cara Augustenborg. It will also have key addresses by Fintan O’Toole and Minister Patrick O’Donovan. Developed by SOLAS in partnership with KPMG, Green Skills 2030 identifies the critical skills gaps impacting Ireland’s ability to transition to a climate-neutral society across crucial sectors such as construction, agriculture, transport, energy, hospitality, and finance. In collaboration with the 16 Education & Training Boards, public bodies, government departments, and key industry stakeholders, the Strategy outlines the enormous opportunity for the Further Education & Training Sector to respond to these skills gaps and build an inclusive workforce at the forefront of the green transition. This full-day event will explore Green Skills 2030 in full and include talks, panel discussions, and workshops from experts in education, government, and industry. Green Campus Book Club Launch: The Green Campus Book Club will take off during Climate Action Week 2024! Calling all book lovers interested in climate change, the environment, and sustainability, join us this October to read “A Bigger Picture!” by Vanessa Nakate. We will divide the book into 5 sections and read one every two weeks. If you join the Green Campus Book Club, you will receive the newsletter at the beginning of each section, where we will share our thoughts, opinions, tips, and resources, and we look forward to hearing your opinions on the chapters we will be reading!

Campus Screenings of ‘Wilding’. Time and date TBC soon. Based on Isabella Tree’s best-selling book by the same title, Wilding tells the story of a young couple that bets on nature for the future of their failing, four-hundred-year-old estate. The young couple battles entrenched tradition and dare to place their farm's fate in nature's hands. Ripping down the fences, they set the land back to the wild and entrust its recovery to a motley mix of tame and wild animals. It is the beginning of a grand experiment that will become one of Europe's most significant rewilding experiments.
