An article co-authored by Hubert Smekal receives a research award

Hubert Smekal co-authored the article “Differentiation through flexibility in implementation: Strategic and substantive uses of discretion in EU directives”, for which the leading author Robert Zbíral received the MUNI (Masaryk University, Czechia) Scientist Award for outstanding research. The article was published in the prestigious European Union Politics, one of the leading journals on European integration, and was co-authored with Sebastiaan Princen of Utrecht University.

Hubert Smekal is an Associate Professor at the School of Law and Criminology, Maynooth University.  His research focuses on the interplay between law and politics, especially concerning the EU, courts and human rights issues.
