Visit to Zambian Ministry of Education by EU Erasmus + SEED project for Capacity Building in Higher Education for Sustainable Community-based Enterprise Development led by Maynooth University

Partners from Malawi, Zambia, Ireland, Italy & Belgium in new EU Erasmus + project – SEED

Capacity Building in Higher Education for Sustainable Community- based Enterprise Development’ visit the Zambian Ministry of Education in Lusaka during recent transnational meeting where they met with the Permanent Secretary of Technical Services in Higher Education, the Director of University Education and the National Erasmus Officer at National Ministry of Education offices. The Permanent Secretary emphasized the importance of HEI and community partnership in developing responses and sustainable local enterprise in face of climate change, while the Director of University Education highlighted the importance of international collaboration and growing bonds of friendship and partnership between our universities. The National Erasmus Officer offered ongoing support for SEED partnership and connections with other Erasmus partners.

This meeting was part of the first transnational partners meeting, held from 26–29 March 2025 in Kabwe, Zambia, and it was co-hosted by Mulungushi University and Kwame Nkrumah University, and brought together SEED partners from Europe, Malawi, and Zambia. Funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ Programme, the SEED project
aims to promote sustainable local development by strengthening higher education institutions, developing micro credential training, and fostering cooperation with community actors and policymakers.
