The pre-text behind the photographic act
What is the pre-text behind artistic, photographic and/or literary creation? How does writing infiltrate photography ? What place does the artist allow himself to occupy when he tells the story of someone else ? If we consider the notion of "intimacy" well beyond the private sphere, we can think about it as “a space of mutual recognition and the site of a shared otherness where, at once, the other is what we are and what we are not.”

Inaugural Max Nänny Lecture
The International Association of Word and Image Studies and the Amsterdam School of Cultural Analysis is delighted to announce the Max Nänny Lecture which aims to celebrate the prize, its recipients, and current research in word-image studies. This year, the lecture also anticipates the 2026 International IAWIS conference in Amsterdam, "Word, Image and Social Dynamics." International Networking Event with Lynne Marie Rosenberg
Maynooth University Arts and Humanities Institute (AHI) and the Department of Media Studies cordially invite you to an international Zoom networking event led by acclaimed television presenter, educator, and AHI research fellow, Lynne Marie Rosenberg. This event is for academic researchers and creative industry professionals working in various intersections of identity, media, and advocacy. Lynne will present preliminary research and content creation from her AHI project, Different Together: An Audio Exploration Of Similarities In Multi-Identity Across Experiences. She will be joined in the first half of the hour by keynote presenters Jess Majekodunmi and Maybe Burke. The remainder of the time will be spent in facilitated breakout rooms with an opportunity for international participants to meet, chat, and share work and research with one another.

The Child Through Time
Professor Anna Hickey-Moody will present a non-teleological concept of childhood through exploring memory and the philosophy of Deleuze and Guattari. Dr Richard Huddleson will reflect on the changing figure of the Child and of Youth, alongside the hopes and fears that they awaken, in Catalan culture between 1898 and 1939.
