Turn to Teaching Community Come Together to Celebrate the Think About Teaching Class of 2021

Monday, December 13, 2021 - 17:45

The Conferring Ceremony for the Think About Teaching Class of 2021 took place on-line on Friday, December 10th. While circumstances did not allow us to celebrate in person; family, friends, staff and supporters from Local Area Partnerships and teacher unions joined on-line to share in the tremendous achievements of the students. Congratulations to a fantastic group of students.

Think About Teaching Foundation Cert is a one year, Level 6 university course for people who have an interest in teaching as a career path. The programme offers pathways for its graduates into early childhood, primary, post-primary, and further education teaching. The programme is funded by the HEA and is a collaborative initiative that is supported by the Department of Adult and Community Education, Froebel Department of Primary and Early Childhood Education, MU Department of Education, Lárionad na Gaeilge, Department of Applied Social Studies, Maynooth University Admissions Office and Maynooth Access Programme.

Now in its fourth year, Think About Teaching has developed into a rich and diverse community of students, staff, schools and community partners, which is committed to widening participation in education and teaching. This was reflected in the conversation that flowed during the night as staff, members of the programme's Steering Committee and Rising Leaders (teacher mentors) joined the students in conversation about their fantastic achievements and their hopes for the future.
