If you are attending your ceremony, you do not need to confirm your attendance with the Conferring Office. If we do not hear from you, we will assume that you will be attending your ceremony.
Guest Invitations
All graduands will receive by post, two invitation tickets for the admission of two guests to the ceremony and one ticket to admit these guests to the finger food reception after the ceremony. Graduands should ensure that their guests know the location of the venues. Admittance is by ticket only and entry is via the main door. Guests should be seated at least 30 minutes before the commencement of the ceremony. After this time admittance for ticket holders is not guaranteed. Children are admitted by ticket only and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. The ceremony will last approximately one hour and fifteen minutes.

In the event that you cannot attend your ceremony, please complete our online In Absentia Form (available here closer to your ceremony date). In order to facilitate preparations for Graduation Day, this should be done as soon as possible. Should you find that you will be unable to attend your ceremony please notify the Conferring Office even if only on the day before the ceremony. If you cannot attend your ceremony, your degree scroll will be posted to the address that you indicated on the online form approximately three weeks after your graduation ceremony.
All graduands should arrive at Maynooth University at least 90 minutes before their graduation ceremony is due to commence. Upon arrival, graduands can collect their robes from Phelan Conan (see ‘Gown Hire’) and then assemble in the designated area to register with staff from the Conferring Office. We ask all graduands to register no later than 30 minutes before the beginning of your ceremony.
Graduands receive their parchments in a definite and fixed order, and they will be issued with a line-up number upon registration on the day of the event. This number will correspond to the graduand’s seat number and will ensure that the graduand receives the correct degree scroll. During the ceremony, graduands will be called onto the stage and presented with their degree parchment by the President of the University.
Reception
After the conferring ceremony, a reception of finger food, tea and coffee will be served to ticket holders.
Degree Scroll/Parchment
Do take care of your degree scroll as a replacement costs €50.

Due to a number of complaints received about unofficial photographers, the University does not recommend that graduands avail of their services and accepts no responsibility for arrangements made with them.
Parking for all graduation ceremonies will take place on the North Campus only.
The North Campus car parks are a five-minute walk from the venue but will accommodate an easier departure from Maynooth village at the end of the ceremonies.
All motorists are asked to co-operate with the stewards in the management of the traffic and parking arrangements. Graduands should allow sufficient time to park on the North Campus and account for the time to collect your gown.
Guests and graduands with disabilities who have authorized disability permits will be permitted to park on the South Campus where very limited parking is available.
Travelling to Maynooth
There can be serious traffic delays and congestion in the town of Maynooth on graduation days. We recommend that graduands and guests travelling to Maynooth from the west of Ireland and areas north of Maynooth on the M4 take the Kilcock exit and park on the North Campus (Kilcock Road).
Graduands and guests (who wish to avoid the town of Maynooth) travelling from the Dublin direction to Maynooth can exit the M4 at motorway sign R449, Leixlip West and Celbridge West. Cross over the motorway and travel through two roundabouts. At the next roundabout turn left for Carton House. Drive for 2.3 miles and take a right turn for Dunboyne at the R157. Drive for a half mile to the next roundabout and take the second exit for Dunboyne, R157. Continue along that road and take the next turn left, signposted for Kilcock. Drive for 1.2 miles to the T junction and turn left for Maynooth. Drive for 1 mile and follow the Conferring signs to the North Campus. This route will add about one mile to your journey but will save substantial time. Motorists can also return by this route.
