More than 2,000 alumni visit Maynooth University for special celebration
Maynooth University graduates who were conferred in virtual ceremonies during Covid restrictions will return with their friends and families this week for special campus celebrations.
The classes of March, September and October 2020; and March and September 2021, who missed out on a campus conferring were invited to return for a series of ceremonies, taking place on Tuesday 7th, Wednesday 8th , Thursday 9th June, and Friday 10th June.
Maynooth University will present alumni with a memento of a mounted print of the University’s iconic sculpture, Waggle Dance, by Remco de Fouw and Rachel Joynt, to mark the celebrations, and to recall their years in Maynooth.
President of Maynooth University, Professor Eeva Leinonen, paid tribute to those former students who were conferred in virtual ceremonies during an unprecedented health crisis.
“I am delighted to be able to meet so many graduates of Maynooth University who are returning to our campus for this special celebration in the John Hume Building,” she said.
“It is important to pay tribute to the resilience of our graduates and their achievements during a most extraordinary health crisis.”
