2023 Arts and Minds Festival

What a festival we had in 2023! Four days of creative energy featuring Writers, Makers, Dancers, Thinkers, Singers of Opera and Singers of Sean-Nós, Performers and Poets. Among the wide variety of events on campus, was a performance by the multiple award-winning Irish folk duo, Ye Vagabonds, and Irish National Opera were in Concert with soprano Anna Devin, mezzo-soprano Sharon Carty,  bass-baritone Gianluca Margheri, and pianist Finghin Collins. In the inaugural, Literary Lounge, we had book readings by Nicole Flattery (author of Nothing Special) and Deepti Kapoor (author of Age of Vice) plus poetry readings with Seán Hewitt and Lauren Lawler. In another festival first, we partnered with Maynooth Film For All and on the opening night, showed a screening of Aftersun, the internationally acclaimed Paul Mescal movie, followed by an insightful discussion and Q&A with the audience and colleagues from the Department of Media Studies.
