As part of the IEEE Day celebration, the IEEE MU Student Branch executive committee, including Adil Farooq (Chair), Tadhg Joseph Creagh (Vice Chair), WIE Chair Thalita Emanuelle de Nazare, and CAS MU Chapter Chair Josefredo Gadelha da Silva, along with other IEEE SB members and supported by our SB counsellor, Dr. Erivelton Nepomuceno, conducted an IEEE recruitment drive on 11 October from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the Electronic Engineering Department at Maynooth University, Ireland. The event featured fun activities, such as demonstrating how to build an AI hand gesture-controlled robot, distributing sweets, and providing IEEE membership development materials. About 50 students visited our booth, with many showed interests in joining IEEE MU SB.
Additionally, the attendees were informed about IEEE benefits, one of which is the team participating in the IEEE R8 Robot Championship 2024 in Malta, where two second-year undergraduate and one post-graduate students who received travel grants from the IEEE UK and Ireland section along with free accommodation from the event organizers. We also encouraged participation in the IEEE Xtreme 18.0 programming event on 26 October to get recognition and win accolades.
