A key component of the Maynooth University Strategic Plan invovles offering all staff across the university the opportunity to internationalise their working expereince at Maynooth.

The Arqus European University Alliance offers multiple internationalisation opportunities for MU teaching staff.

The Arqus Alliance fully supports academics and offers them all kinds of facilities to exchange best practices in teaching innovation, management and research support, extending networking in the European Union, exploring the feasibility of sharing resources and fostering collaborative synergies between academics and researchers from all Alliance universities.

Arqus works especially to support university faculty through shared resources that facilitate the renewal and innovation of teaching methods in multilingual environments and the promotion of collaboration with departments and professors from Alliance universities.

Staff Mobility

TRAVEL TO AN ARQUS UNIVERSITY USING ERASMUS+ STAFF MOBILITY

The MU Arqus Alliance team encourages both academic and support staff to make use of Erasmus+ Programme funded opportunities for teaching or job-shadowing/observing at Arqus Alliance institutions.

ADVANTAGES OF STAFF MOBILITY

The primary aim of staff mobility is to foster positive and enduring impacts on both participants and the organisations involved.
Some of the benefits linked with engaging in mobility between partner institutions for all staff members include:

Enhanced competencies in new areas that contribute to one's role or work domain.
Exchange and sharing of diverse practices such as teaching and learning methodologies, policies, and implemented systems at partner institutions.
Exposure to fresh ideas and perspectives to enrich one's work area.
Improved language and intercultural skills, along with enhanced cross-cultural communication.
Heightened motivation and satisfaction in daily work routines.

TYPES OF STAFF MOBILITY

Staff Mobility for Teaching:
This option enables MU teaching staff to deliver lectures at an Arqus partner university abroad. It can encompass any subject area or academic discipline, with a minimum requirement of 8 hours of teaching.

Staff Mobility for Training:
This category permits both teaching and non-teaching staff from MU to engage in job shadowing/observation or participate in training events (excluding conferences) at an Arqus partner university. A period spent abroad can encompass both teaching and training activities.

ELIGIBLE DURATION

It's important to note that, in order to ensure that as many staff members as possible have access to staff mobility opportunities, the funded duration for staff mobility must be a minimum of 2 days (excluding travel) and a maximum of 7 days (including travel) at the present time.

FUNDING AND GRANTS

Staff members are granted financial support to cover the travel and subsistence expenses associated with their mobility.
The calculation for the awarded grant is as follows:

Travel Grant:

For travel distances between 100 and 499KM: 180 EUR per participant
For travel distances between 500 and 1999KM: 275 EUR per participant
For travel distances between 2000 and 2999KM: 360 EUR per participant
For travel distances between 3000 and 3999KM: 530 EUR per participant
For travel distances between 4000 and 7999KM: 820 EUR per participant
For travel distances of 8000KM or more: 1500 EUR per participant

Subsistence Grant:

Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Norway, Sweden: 180 EUR per participant
Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain: 160 EUR per participant
Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey: 140 EUR per participant
