Education
Congcong received a PhD in Computer Science from University College Dublin in 2023, where his research focused on developing advanced techniques for social media crisis message categorization. Following his doctoral studies, Congcong undertook postdoctoral research at University College Dublin, where he concentrated on hierarchical multi-label classification for legal documents, contributing to innovative approaches in long document classification. Prior to his PhD, Congcong completed a B.Sc. in Software Engineering from the Beijing-Dublin International College, a joint program between Beijing University of Technology and University College Dublin.

Teaching
Concong has taught courses such as Computing for Engineering and Probability and Statistics at Fuzhou University before he joined Maynooth University as an Assistant Professor/Lecturer. In addition, he has supervised several undergraduate final-year projects, offering guidance and support to students as they complete their studies.

Research
Congcong's research primarily focuses on categorising social media messages during crises, especially when data is scarce, with the goal of improving the speed and accuracy of identifying important information in disaster situations. During his postdoctoral research, he worked on classifying legal documents, exploring methods for organising large, complex texts. In addition to his academic work, Congcong also gained experience at Huawei Ireland Research Centre, where he contributed to projects on detecting harmful comments in multilingual datasets
