Maynooth University welcomed budding scientists to its annual Science Night, with over 2,000 visitors including families from across the region.
The fun night of free events included robot soccer, chemistry experiments, star gazing and fascinating talks. The robot soccer match proved very popular, following a celebrated summer win by MU’s RoboÉireann team in the global RoboCup league.
Visitors from across the region also had the opportunity to ask questions of MU scientists, engineers and students about the exhibits and the world of science.
Throughout the week, the Faculty of Science and Engineering hosted diverse events, including exhibitions at the Russell Library, tours of the Science Museum on South Campus, and an online astrophysics and cosmology masterclass, which were attended by alumni and members of the public.
Science Night was part of national Science Week, which this year took place from November 12-19, and is an annual celebration of the role of science in our daily lives.
