Description:
This composition for piano is a sustained study of hynpotic stasis, colouristic cantillation and moments of eruption, culminating in an unforgettable wall of sound. The work has been performed in France and UK and will shortly be released by Altarus Records. This performance will be the Irish Premiere.
Biography:
Simon Mawhinney is Professor of Composition at Queen’s University. In the past thirty years he has established an international reputation and his work is regularly performed by leading musicians in countries such as France, Germany, Iceland, Sweden and Malaysia.
