David Rattigan, BCL Law and Business student, completed a research assistant placement at Maynooth University’s Department of Law in June and August 2020. During this placement David worked with Dr David Doyle on a range of research assignments. David’s placement included research on the topic of insanity homicide defences in Ireland from 1922-1962, with the first six weeks being focused on Republic of Ireland cases, and the latter weeks focusing on Northern Ireland cases.
Speaking about his placement, David noted: ‘I believe this placement has benefited me as I have had to work independently and be responsible for the work I have completed. Moreover, this placement has given me a unique insight into what research work consists of, which I believe will be of great value to me as I pursue a career in the legal profession. I would like to thank Maynooth Law for providing me with this opportunity.’
Thank you David for all your help this summer!
