On 5 December, Dr Donal Coffey (Maynooth University School of Law and Criminology) and Dr Laura Cahillane (University of Limerick) hosted a conference on the centenary of the 1922 Constitution in the Shelbourne Hotel where the Constitution was drafted. The conference featured talks on different elements of the Free State Constitution, such as Parliament, the Irish language, and the interaction with Northern Ireland. Donal is an Assistant Professor at the School of Law and Criminology. His research interests are in the fields of public law and legal history. His interests are particularly in the fields of contemporary constitutional law and comparative constitutional history, with a specific interest in the constitutional history of the British Empire. He teaches modules in Legal History of Empires and Constitutional Law.
