On Monday 18 July 2016, Dr Fergus Ryan of Maynooth University Department of Law will speak at the #changeacademy2016 Road to Marriage Equality Summer School in Killiney, Dublin.  Fergus will discuss the constitutional and legal implications of last year’s marriage referendum, evaluating the key legal changes and highlighting remaining challenges for LGBTI people in Ireland. The #changeacademy2016 brings together activists, advocates, commentators, and academics from around the world to evaluate and learn from the 2015 referendum experience. Further details are available online.

On 27 June 2016, Fergus also spoke on the topic of the marriage referendum to undergraduate politics and pre-law students of Texas State University, who were studying in Ireland.

Fergus was recently asked to help raise the Pride flag over Kildare County Council offices at Naas, to mark a new local government initiative called 'Having Pride in Local Government' and to remember victims of the recent Orlando shooting. The event was covered in the Kildare Times and by Kildare Now.

Dr Fergus Ryan lectures in Family Law on the Department's LLB programme and in Gender, Sexuality and the Law and Marriage and the Law on the LLM (Global Legal Studies) masters degree.
