Festival of Food Sovereignty

Festival of Food Sovereignty
Tuesday, April 9, 2019 - 06:30
Maynooth University

Food sovereignty is about movements of citizens striving for democratic control of our food system. It is grounded in a belief in creating a new food system in which production and distribution protects the environment and the rights of all people to access resources such as land, seeds, and knowledge. Food Sovereignty requires transforming the current agricultural structure in Ireland and beyond.

On April 9th 2019, Maynooth University staff in the Department of Geography, the Department of Sociology, the Department of Adult & Community Education, and the Department of International Development are delighted to host a unique day of participatory activities with excellent speakers and numerous opportunities for debate and discussion about changing food systems.
