Title: "On The Many Ways That The Android OS Is Snooping on Us"

Abstract: Mobile handsets are the main way that most people access the Internet.   Much attention has been paid to tracking and other unwanted behaviour by user installed apps, but data collection by the mobile OS itself (which in practice means Android or iOS) has received far less attention.   Shining a light into this dark corner reveals a number of more or less unpleasant surprises.

Biography: Doug Leith is Chair of Computer Systems in the School of Computer Science & Statistics at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland.  His current research interests include data privacy, machine learning and online optimization.
