Imagining India in the metropole: East India House and the visual politics of Empire
Dr Rosie Dias is Reader and Head of History of Art at the University of Warwick. She joined the History of Art department at Warwick in 2005, following a teaching fellowship in the History of Art department at the University of York and a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art. Dr Dias works on eighteenth- and early nineteenth-century British art, and has particular interests in painting, printmaking, exhibition culture and colonial art in South Asia. Her monograph, Exhibiting Englishness: John Boydell's Shakespeare Gallery and the Formation of a National Aesthetic was published by Yale University Press in 2013 and informed a 2016 exhibition at Compton Verney, "Boydell's Vision: the Shakespeare Gallery in the Eighteenth Century".
