Maynooth University has been placed in the top 200 universities in the world as ranked by the Times Higher Education (THE) University Impact Rankings, which capture universities’ impact on society based on their success in delivering the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Maynooth’s success included a ranking of 1st place in Ireland and 49th in the world for Quality Education.
The University was also placed in the top 3% universities globally (at number 13 out of 458 universities) for its research on social inequalities, policies on discrimination and commitment to recruiting staff and students from under-represented groups. Recognizing the university’s commitment to progressing gender equality, Maynooth University was placed 2nd in Ireland and 34th globally for Gender Equality.
The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings are the only global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The goals address global changes including poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, and peace and justice. Over 760 institutions from 85 countries participated globally. This was the first time that Maynooth University participated in the rankings.
