Professor George Huxley Celebration Workshop

The Departments of Ancient Classics and Mathematics and Statistics at Maynooth University, in collaboration with the Arts and Humanities Institute, hosted a one-day event on Friday 28th June in memory of the late Professor George Huxley.
Members of Professor Huxley’s family, together with his former colleagues and friends, gathered to celebrate his significant contributions to scholarship at Maynooth for over half a century.

Schedule

10.30 –11.00 am Coffee and Welcome (Logic Hall, ground floor Logic House).
11.15 am Dr Mathieu Ossendrijver (Freie Universität Berlin), ‘The interaction of Babylonian and Greek astronomy: an update’.
12.00 noon Tour of Russell Library.
1.00 pm Lunch (Pugin Hall).
2.15 pm Lecture by Dr Kieran McGroarty and Professor Linda Hogan.
3.15 pm Readings and Reminiscences with Margo Huxley, Corinna Huxkey, and Harriet James.
6 pm Dinner.
