Staff guidelines for the use of Generative AI (GenAI) tools in Teaching, Learning and Assessment are now available on our website here.
The guidelines have been designed to inform staff and students regarding GenAI in the context of Teaching, Learning and Assessment practice and policy at Maynooth University. The guidelines were co-authored by members of the Maynooth University Expert AI Advisory Group. They build on the work of CTL and MU staff to reinforce the resources currently available on the Centre for Teaching and Learning website.
The guidelines draw on research-informed practice, and national and international expert guidance and good practice from the National Academic Integrity Network (NAIN), Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), UNESCO, Higher Education Institutions from around the world, and scholars researching in the field.
The Staff Guidelines have informed the current development of Student Guidelines for GenAI use. The Student Guidelines were co-created with a cohort of MU students from across faculties, including both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The Student Guidelines will be available at the beginning of the new academic year, and formally launched during National Academic Integrity Week, 14th-18th of October. They will be accompanied by a number of resources on the Student Skills and Success website, developed for and by the students.
This is a project funded by the Strategic Alignment of Teaching and Learning Enhancement Fund in Higher Education (SATLE), involving staff collaboration from CTL, Student Skills and Success, and Critical Skills. It runs from June to December 2024.
