On-campus accommodation
Details of our on-campus accommodation options are here, however these are in high demand and fill up quickly. It is recommended that you explore other options as outlined below. If you have further queries relating to on-campus accommodation, you can contact the Residence Office: residence.office@mu.ie.
Off-campus accommodation
As demand for on-campus accommodation far exceeds the number of beds available, students are encouraged to look for off-campus accommodation.
Our Student Services offer advice and information via webinars on how to find suitable off-campus accommodation during your stay at Maynooth University approximately 3 months in advance of students arriving.
Students who need to search for off-campus accommodation will be given access to the Maynooth Studentpad. This is an online platform run by Maynooth University where local landlords and homeowners can advertise their lettings to students attending Maynooth University.
Additional information can be found here. If you have any further queries relating to off-campus accommodation, please send them to: maynoothstudentpad@mu.ie.

Some students may require a visa to enter Ireland. If you are unsure of whether you require a visa or not, please check the Irish Immigration website here. Note: US and Canadian citizens do not require a visa to enter Ireland.
Students who are coming from outside the EEA / EU / Switzerland will need to register with Irish Immigration and obtain an Irish Residency Permit (IRP) Card. This process happens after you have arrived in Ireland. Please see our immigration webpage and the official Irish Immigration website for more information.
IMPORTANT NOTE:Though Ireland is a member state of the European Union, it is not a member of the Schengen Area. Erasmus students who are non-EU citizens, but hold a residency permit for another EU country, will need a visa to enter Ireland. They will also have to register with Irish Immigration and obtain an Irish Residency Permit Card.
All incoming exchange students must have travel insurance which includes repatriation (assisted return to the home country in the case of serious injury of illness, or fatality). Students must be covered for the duration of their stay at Maynooth.
Erasmus students must also have private travel insurance. This is because the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) does not include repatriation.
Students who require additional supports, such as students with disabilities, can register with the Access Office and avail of the Maynooth Access Programme (MAP). Some supports available through MAP include:
To register for additional supports through MAP, please fill out and submit this form.

Great place if you're looking for a friendly environment, where you won't feel lost. Follow as many lectures as you can, if only to avoid rain and wind! And some advice from the Dutch: get a bike and cruise around campus, the best way to get around!
Bronwyn Henebury, The Netherlands
Studying at Maynooth University is very special! When I started studying here, my dream of being a student at Hogwarts for at least once in my life came true. But it is not only the old buildings that seem to enchant you with their unique character but also the people who welcome you with arms wide open. The University staff and students are there for you and will support you every step of the way. I advise everyone to join a society or club at Maynooth University in order to experience the Irish culture.
Alena Hemmel, Germany
I chose to study at Maynooth University because I wanted to be more open-minded, become fluent in English and because the quality and the range of classes in my subject area (political science) completely differed from the courses offered at my home university. My settling in was really easy and quick with help from the International Office and local students who were very welcoming and friendly and the staff who take care of students. I've had a special year with memories that I will never forget.
