The Historical Geography Research Group of the Royal Geographical Society/Institute of British Geographers has awarded Sophie Thiesen, a student on the Maynooth MA in Spatial Justice, its prize for The Heretical Geographies of Irish Witches and Fairies, as the best undergraduate dissertation in Historical Geography in 2020. They praised its "original focus and sophisticated use of both archival and conceptual materials" and said that Sophie's "analysis was insightful and showed a strong grasp of feminist geographical theory and work on visual methodologies, commemoration and memorialisation."
Congratulations Sophie and we hope to see this work in print some time soon. Well done also to all the staff who worked with you on this, particularly your dissertation supervisor Professor Karen Till. We are all very proud.
