Examinations
International students here for the full academic year follow exactly the assessment and examination procedure applicable to all Maynooth University students.
International students here for Semester 1 only should contact their module lecturers for details of assessment requirements. These students usually complete their assessment before the end of the first semester. Please note that this is generally because your home institutions require your marks before our January exam period ends.
Letter Request Form
*Applies only to current registered international students at Maynooth University*
If you are a current international student and you need a letter (for immigration purposes, setting-up a bank account, etc.) to prove you are a registered student at Maynooth University and/or have paid the tuition fees, please follow this link on the International Office website for instructions.
Sociology and Politics undergraduate students undertaking a full-time degree, have the option of going abroad on the Study Abroad (Non-EU) or Erasmus+ Exchange Programmes.
Students can study abroad as part of their degree after successfully completing two years of their BA degree at Maynooth University. Students must spend a full academic year at their chosen host university. After the year abroad you return to Maynooth to progress into your final year.
If you complete your year abroad successfully, your 3-year BA degree becomes a 4-year BA International degree. As the year abroad is an additional year to your studies at Maynooth University, you are somewhat flexible when choosing modules at your host university.
Where Can I Study Abroad?
As a global university, Maynooth has been working closely with many prestigious higher education institutions to promote and facilitate student and staff mobility in Europe, Asia, Australia, and North & South America.
Maynooth University Sociology undergraduates can take advantage of an opportunity to study with students from German, US and Turkish universities in courses taught by top international scholars in the heart of Europe each summer (arrangements may vary from year to year). You can also get 5 ECTS of credit in your final year!
The international outward linkages coordinator for the academic year 2024/25 is Professor John O'Brennan. You can contact Professor O'Brennan at j[email protected] should you have any questions relating to your Sociology and/or Politics study abroad.
