Launch of new eLearning programme for university staff on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Higher Education
Maynooth University is delighted to support the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Higher Education (EDI in HE) eLearning programme, launched today. EDI in HE is a successor programme to LEAD (Living Equality and Diversity), which was developed by the IUA Equality Network in 2012. This updated EDI programme involves a blended approach to generating staff conversation and engagement with EDI and human rights issues in all our higher education institutions.
The purpose of the EDI in HE eLearning programme is:
- to raise awareness of how equality, diversity, inclusion and human rights issues permeate organisational culture, and;
- to understand what third level education staff responsibilities are under Irish equality and human rights legislation.
Welcoming the launch of the programme, Dr Gemma Irvine, Maynooth University Vice President for Equality and Diversity said “This programme will provide all our staff the opportunity to explore Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in a higher education context and will support staff to put these learnings into practice. From creating an inclusive welcoming campus, reflecting on our teaching practice and how to better support all students, to considering organisational and structural elements of the University like recruitment, promotion and career development."

Full access to the programme will be available to Maynooth University staff in the coming days. A preview of the programme is available here today.
