
New Undergraduate Degrees - CAO Entry 2025
- MH111 BA Creative Writing and English - a three year programme.
1st year - Semester 1
Students take 3 x 7.5 credit modules of Creative Writing and English:
>Introduction to Creative Writing
>Foundational English 1 (Prose)
>Climate Fiction
PLUS choose 1 other subject, which may include Critical Skills, from the available BA Subject Groups 1, 2, 4 or 5.
1st year - Semester 2
Take 3 x 7.5 credit modules of Creative Writing and English:
>Introduction to Creative Writing
>Foundational English 2 (Poetry and Drama)
>Literary Criticism and Theory
Continue with the other subject.
2nd and Final year
Creative Writing and English modules
Optional 10 credit Elective in 2nd year
- MH504 BA (Criminology) - a three year programme.
1st year
>30 credits of Criminology
>Up to 2 other subjects (one of which may be Critical Skills) Subject Groups
2nd year
>At least 50 credits of Criminology
>Optional 10 credit Elective.
>Optional work placement or study abroad after second year subject to availability
>Students who take at least 15 credits of Law in year 1 of MH504, and who pass 1st year, are eligible to transfer into year 2 of the MH502 BCL Law and Criminology degree or year 2 of the MH501 LLB degree.
3rd year
>60 credits of Criminology
- The University is developing a General Nursing degree which it expects to offer from September 2025. Further details on this will be provided on the University website in due course.

Course Changes - CAO Entry 2025
- MH101 BA Bachelor of Arts subject ‘Greek and Roman Civilization’ will change name to ‘Classical Studies’ for students beginning in September 2025.
- MH101 BA Bachelor of Arts subject ‘Media & Cultural Studies’ will change name to ‘Media, Film & Cultural Studies’ for students beginning in September 2025.

Entry Requirements Changes - CAO Entry 2025
- MH305 BSc Product Design: a Science subject is no longer a minimum entry requirement for this degree. The 2025 entry requirements are 2H5 & 4O6/H7, Irish, English and O3/H7 Mathematics plus 3 other subjects.
