Staff from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics actively participated in Maths Week, visiting primary and secondary schools to deliver interactive and engaging talks.
Dr Rafael de Andrade Moral visited Clocha Rince National School where he gave 4 talks:
“How many animals are there in the world?”
Session 1: Infants
Session 2: 1st and 2nd class
“Playing the odds: the mathematics behind magic tricks”
Session 1: 3rd and 4th class
Session 2: 5th and 6th class

Dr Ciarán Mac an Bhaird visited:
- St Farnan's Prosperous School, where he spoke to LC Students about Pythagorean Theorem and Triples, reading Maths in hieroglyphic and multiplying tricks.
- Celbridge Community School. He talked to 1st Years Students about Golden Ratio and reading hieroglyphic Mathematics.
- Piper's Hill College, Naas. He talked to TY Students about Pythagorean Theorem and Triples, reading Maths in hieroglyphic, multiplying tricks and Golden Ratio.

Professor David Malone visited
- St Columba's National School in North Strand and visited 4 classrooms (JI/SI,1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, 5th/6th). He did an activity involving checking if numbers were Even, Triangular, Square or Prime by arranging posted notes into different shapes.
- Mount Temple Comprehensive School on the Malahide Road. He talked to their 6th year honours maths students. He also gave a short talk on "Secrets, Counting Things and Information Theory" and spoke a little about what it is like to study maths at university and answered some questions.
- St. Mary's HFC Glasnevin school. He spoke to all their sixth years about "Studying and Careers in Mathematics".
Additionally, Professor David Malone posted a series of Maths Jokes on Twitter, bringing an extra touch of fun to the week and engaging a wider audience online.
