The Music Department is delighted to congratulate Dr Joanne Cusack, who has been announced as the winner of the third Harry White Doctoral Prize competition. Her dissertation is entitled "Changes in Society and Scene: An Examination of Women in Irish Traditional Music", and was supervised by Dr Adrian Scahill and Dr Daithí Kearney (DKIT). An honourable mention was awarded to Cillian Long (Trinity College Dublin) for his dissertation entitled "The Accompaniment of Plainchant in France, Belgium and Certain Other Catholic Regions: A Chronological Study of the Theory and Practice from the French Revolution to the Second Vatican Council", supervised by Andrew Johnstone. This year's jury consisted of Anja Bunzel (Prague) and Dillon Parmer (Ottawa). The prize will be awarded during a ceremony at the upcoming SMI / ICTMD-IE Postgraduate Conference (Trinity College Dublin, 16-17 January 2025).
