Maynooth University Celebrates the Chinese New Year 2025

The Chinese Language department successfully hosted the Chinese New Year Celebration at the Aula Maxima Hall on South Campus, bring together faculty, students, and staff for an afternoon of joy, cultural exchange, and festive entertainment.
The event began with a warm welcome speech by Prof. Patrick McCole, MU Vice-President International, and Prof. Valerie Heffernan, Head of MU School of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures. The afternoon featured a variety of captivating performances by talented students, including singing, Kung Fu demonstration, and traditional Chinese music. A special highlight was a musical performance by Prof, Joseph Timoney from MIEC, who delighted the audience with a selection of classic Chinese songs.
In addition to the performances, the gala included engaging games and activities, such as charades and an exciting raffle draw, which added an element of fun and friendly competition.
The event also embraced the university's multicultural spirit, with faculty and students showcasing traditions and cultural elements from different backgrounds, further fostering inclusive and appreciation for diversity.
