From February 17th - 21st, Dr Veronica Albanese (University of Granada) was hosted on an Erasmus+ Teaching Stay by Dr Diarmaid Hyland of Maynooth University Department of Education.
The primary focus of the stay was the exchange of ideas and facilitation of workshops relating to mathematics education from early childhood through post-primary level. Dr Albanese worked with the department’s BScEd and PME student teachers on how paper folding and digital technology can be combined in the context of geometry. She also worked with BEd students from the Froebel Department of Primary and Early Childhood Education on alternative approaches to addition and subtraction, kindly facilitated by Joni Clarke.
The stay also involved several networking and administrative meetings, an expected output of which will be a student mobility agreement enabling MU student teachers to take part in an immersive school placement experience in University of Granada.
