CoBot for Dairy Quality
The “CoBot for Dairy Quality” project evaluates the application of collaborative robotics (Cobots) (in conjunction with a vision system) to robustly and reproducibly mix dairy powders into rehydrated products (e.g. the addition of coffee creamers), as a close representation of the hand motions used by the end-user. The vision system then assesses the images taken of the rehydrated product post mixing for undesirable properties that may be present. Current standard test methodologies can be subjective, hence using reproducible movements in combination with a vision system that can produce a numerical value for an undesirable property ensures final product quality. This PhD project is funded under the Teagasc Walsh Scholarship Programme and it is in collaboration with the Teagasc Food Research centre in Moorepark.
