"Spoilt For Choice" Information Evening a Success!

On Thursday 6th November, the School of Business hosted an Information Evening ("Spoilt For Choice") in the Iontas Theatre for students wishing to learn more about the option to convert their BBS to a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) or a BBS International by extending their degree to four years.

The Information Evening was attended by over 100 current Maynooth University students - many thanks to those who attended and also to our student helpers on the evening.

During the evening, the attendees had the opportunity to hear from their peers who had just returned from work placement / studying abroad about how they successfully availed of the options, what the most exciting aspects of their year 'out' were and how they felt it had enhanced their learning experience and employment opportunities.

There were also interesting contributions from two employer representatives: Catherine Watts from State Street and Louise Lonergan from Lonergan Corporate Gifts. Both gave invaluable advice to students about what they as employers expected from work placement students and what they felt students would gain from the experience.

Advice on the work placement process and information on the many partner Universities available to students wishing to study abroad for the third year of their degree was also presented.

The talks were followed by tea, coffee and refreshments in the Iontas Lobby which gave interested students the opportunity to speak on a one to one basis with the panel of speakers (returned students, employers, placement officer). There was also a poster exhibition displaying information on student experiences with 2012-2013 work placement/study abroad options.
