Dr. Mirca Madianou from Goldsmiths College in London will give a seminar on Oct. 3rd arising from her book, co-authored with Daniel Miller, on Migration and New Media: Transnational Families and Polymedia. This will be followed by a workshop on transnational ethnography on Friday October 4th.
In her work Dr. Madianou examines the role of new communication technologies in the context of migration and transnational families. She is the author of two books and several journal articles on new media and long distance relationships; migration and transnationalism; media and nationalism; and the role of emotions in mediated communication. The seminar is open to all, will start at 3.30pm, and will take place in the first floor seminar room in An Foras Feasa in the Iontas building.
