Ever wondered what people learn when they attend social science summer schools in methods and techniques? Last summer a number of PhD students from the Department of Sociology attended research method schools and this workshop has been arranged to pass on the main points from those courses.
What: Three short presentations
1) Learning from the Institute for Qualitative and Multi-method Research, Syracuse (John Paul Byrne and Patrick Gallagher)
2) Interviewing Elites - Lessons from the European Consortium for Political Research (Michelle Maher)
3) Reading Regression: A simple guide to understanding regression output in sociology (Ivan Privalko)
This workshop will primarily be of interest to PhD students, but all welcome – even if you have never wondered what people learn at summer schools!
