Maynooth University's Peer Mentoring Programme is an exciting new initiative designed to support first year students transition into university life by offering peer-led help and guidance. It will initially run as a pilot programme open to School of Law and Criminology students only.
The pilot programme will run for eight weeks in Semester 1 where a weekly Group Session will be provided to a registered 10-12 mentees and be facilitated by 2-3 mentors. Mentors are current LLB, BCL or Arts students who have previously completed their first year of university in Law and Criminology.
This programme provides first year students with a unique opportunity to get together with other students in the School, who will signpost them to services and support and forge a sense of belonging and community.
This programme run in partnership between the School of Law & Criminology (Dr Joe Garrihy and Dr Elaine Burroughs), MU THRIVE Iniative (Eddie Corr) and MU Healthy Campus (Orlagh Eustace).
After a period of development and evaluation it is anticipated that the programme would be made available to other Schools & Departments.
