My time in Maynooth really opened up my eyes to the world of accounting and what to expect in the real world. We had the opportunity to attend mock interviews ahead of the real interviews with the accounting firms.

Details of your career path to date

After my journey in Maynooth, I completed a Masters in Accounting in DCU the following year and graduate din 2017. I joined Deloitte in 2017 as part of the graduate programme and I have progressed within the firm to my current role as senior manager. When I started in Deloitte, I spent the first 2 years working with SME's (small to medium entities) but I wanted exposure to more global companies and specifically in the technology industry. Since then, my portfolio of clients has ranged from private medium tech companies to mnc's in that industry.

What does your current role involve?

I'm currently a senior manager in Audit and I work mainly with technology clients. It involves managing and planning the excution of multiple audits across a number of different clients.

What do you find most interesting/challenging about your job?

The most interesting part of my job is the welath of opportunity and exposure that is available to me. No days are similar and I work with a range of different clients, from private Irish clients to large multinationals.

How did you find your current job?

I found my current job through the graduate fair.

What advice would you give to Maynooth University students entering the job market, either generally speaking or in regard to your specific career sector?

The one advice I would always give to incoming associates are to ask lots of questions. My analogy is always they are coming in as a sponge and they need to absorb as much information as they can. People would rather you ask loads of questions than none.
