On Thursday 22 October, Prof. John O' Brennan chaired the Faculty of Arts and Humanities Dean's Lecture delivered by Prof. Kevin O' Rourke (New York University) on 'Brexit in Historical Perspective.'
The conversation ranged over Britain's relationship with Europe in the modern era and the reasons for the Brexit vote in 2016.
Professor John O' Brennan participated in a workshop with other Jean Monnet chairs, on the future of European security and EU Enlargement policy at Jagiellonian University, Krakow on 17 November 2023. He also spoke to Euronews about Ukraine's prospects of joining the EU and how enlargement policy is likely to evolve in the years to come.

Since the outbreak of Russia’s War on Ukraine on February 24, 2022, members of the Centre for European and Eurasian Studies have played a key role in contributing to the University’s response to the invasion and commenting on its implications.
