John O'Brennan attends Krakow Workshop on the future of European security and EU Enlargement policy
Professor John O' Brennan participated in a workshop with other Jean Monnet chairs, on the future of European security and EU Enlargement policy at Jagiellonian University, Krakow on 17 November 2023. He also spoke to Euronews about Ukraine's prospects of joining the EU and how enlargement policy is likely to evolve in the years to come.

Professor John O' Brennan published a new piece in The Irish Examiner newspaper on 27 November 2023, arguing that the far right constitutes a real threat to European democracy in the 2024 European Parliament elections, and that there are too many people across Europe who are very complacent about the nature of this threat.

Ukranian War and associated Events in Maynooth University
Since the outbreak of Russia’s War on Ukraine on February 24, 2022, members of the Centre for European and Eurasian Studies have played a key role in contributing to the University’s response to the invasion and commenting on its implications. We have organized and taken part in numerous public events and we explained the historical and socio-political dimensions of the war to students and the larger university community.
