Seachtain na Gaeilge 2024 (Irish Week) was celebrated in Maynooth University with a creative, versatile and inclusive programme of events related not only to the Irish language but to Irish art and culture as well.

RTÉ Radio 1 visited Maynooth University to record an episode of the ever popular Céilí House programme, featuring students (pictured here), staff and tutors from the Music Department. Central to the performance was the Music Department’s Traditional Group, led by its director Aisling Ní Coisdealbha.

Among the events that took place during the week were the lunchtime concert with the Trad Ensemble and a public showing of Arracht, a psychological thriller set during the Great Famine which won many plaudits and awards upon its release in 2021.

Other events included the St Patrick’s Céilí, a pop-up Gaeltacht, a conversation circle as well as a sean-nós singing session, a sean-nós dancing session, quizzes and book clubs.
