Andrew Gavin
Andrew completed his Masters in Music Performance at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in 2016, achieving First Class Honours under the tuition of Mary Brennan. A graduate of the National University of Ireland, Maynooth, Andrew attained First Class Honours in English Literature. He also holds an M. Phil in Children’s Literature from Trinity College, Dublin. In 2016 Andrew was awarded the PwC Wexford Festival Opera Emerging Young Artist bursary and is a former member of the Irish National Opera ABL Aviation Studio and the Wexford Festival Opera ‘Factory’ Studio. Andrew is currently undertaking his doctoral studies at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and Trinity College Dublin. Operatic highlights include Rodolfo in Puccini’s La Bohème, Ruodi in Rossini’s William Tell, Tebaldo in Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Fenton in Verdi’s Falstaff, Malcolm in Verdi’s Macbeth, Jupiter in Händel’s Semele, Pedrillo in Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Tamino and Monostatos in Mozrt’s Die Zauberflöte, Arbace in Mozart’s Idomeneo, Acis and Damon in Händel’s Acis and Galatea, Mike Murphy in the studio recording of C.V. Stanford’s Shamus O’Brien with Retrospect Opera and the Scottish Opera Orchestra, Mr. McCarthy in the World Premiere of Andrew Synnott’s The 47th Saturday, Junger Diener in Strauss’ Elektra, Don Curzio in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, M. Upcoming engagements include Bach’s St. John Passion, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, and performing the ‘Yeats in Music’ recital that Andrew curated for the Blackwater Valley Opera Festival for the prince of Monaco.
Antonio Cascelli
Antonio Cascelli is a musicologist and performer specialising in piano accompaniment.
Antonio studied piano in Rome with the pianist Elena Matteucci, member of the acclaimed Italian Quartetto Michelangelo and obtained the Piano Diploma in 1990. He gained his degree in Literature and Philosophy at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in 1997. In 1998 he started studying at the University of Southampton, where he first gained a Masters in Musicology with a dissertation on Claudio Monteverdi, and subsequently completed a PhD on Schenker’s unpublished analyses of the music of Chopin.
Before joining the National University of Ireland, Maynooth in September 2008 as Lecturer in Performance Studies, Antonio worked part-time at the University of Southampton (2004-06), where he also held an Early Career Teaching Fellowship in 2006-07.
As performer, Antonio has collaborated as accompanist, with singer Virginia Kerr, Niamh Murray, Eamonn Mulhall, Dr Francesca Placanica, and cellist Dr Alison Hood.
