Invitation to a Constitutional Conversation on 'Constitutions, Referendums and the Family'

The Ethical, Political, Legal and Philosophical Studies Committee of the Royal Irish Academy is organising a series of ‘Constitutional Conversations’, focusing on different aspects of constitutional law over the coming months. The first Conversation, ‘Constitutions, referendums and the family’ will take place on 2 March at 2.00pm at the Royal Irish Academy. It will be convened by Dr Noelle Higgins and chaired by Dr Fergus Ryan, both of Maynooth University Department of Law. This conversation will take the form of a discussion on the recent changes to the conception of the family in Irish law, due to recent constitutional amendments and legislative changes.

Attendance is welcomed and encouraged from academics, postgraduate students, representatives from non-governmental organisations, politicians, the general public and the legal profession. Attendance is free, but prior attendance is required. Further information and booking is availlable on Eventbrite.

Two bursaries to cover travel expenses up to a maximum of €50.00 are available to post-graduate students from Irish universities. To make an application contact Dr Noelle Higgins, Maynooth University at noelle.higgins@mu.ie. Please include a CV and up to 500 words outlining your reasons for wishing to attend the Conversation, and how your attendance would assist with your studies.
